Great news for drinkers of sparkling wine. Under new agreements from the European Union in Brussels, the import of duty free bottle sparkling wines from Bulgarian has more than doubled. With Russia as a major buyer lets hope this new agreement brings to some quality new wines to western europe. |

Just got a bottle of this excellent Chateau Belitza beefy red wine straight from Bulgaria. This wine is a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. Chateau Belitza is aged in French oak barrels for twelve months is strong and bold with a dark blood red colour. The palate is full bodied and is bursting with rich cranberry fruitiness with overtones of black cherry. This knockout Bulgarian wine is a great accompanyment with a nice block of country cheese and a hunk of rustic homemade bread. Also ideal as a main course wine, i found Chataeu Belitza went down well with a nice succulent 14oz Sirloin Steak. Chateau Belitza is produced by the Damianitza Winery in Bulgaria. My bottle was produced in the year 2000. This is a highly recommended wine and available from Damianitza. |
